We will build boxes of food that get distributed to people in need. So the assembly line starts by 1 person building the box, the next putting in boxes of cereal, the next juice, ……… until someone tapes it closed and puts it on the pallet. Kids 11 and up welcome as long as they are with a parent and have filled out a waiver. Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested since I need to individually register you with Second Harvest. (Arrive a few minutes before 5.)
It’s work, but a lot of fun. People keep coming back to help because they enjoy helping out.
Parking:
There is parking available in the Visitor section in front of the main building entrance, or on Gervais Avenue. Please enter via the main entrance and meet in the lobby. If the door is locked, walk around to the right to the drive-through door on the West side of the building.
What to Wear:
Second Harvest Heartland’s Maplewood location is a working warehouse. Please dress in comfortable clothing – t-shirts or sweatshirts with jeans are fine. You MUST wear closed toe shoes – no sandals! Any volunteers who arrive without closed toe shoes will not be able to work in the warehouse.
